One of my top picks for Chinese food in STL. The best crab rangoons...ever.
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years because they have the greatest special fried rice and hot chicken wings. I remember when they had just take outs only 15 years ago. It seems that 75 percent is just takeouts based on my observation. I have gotten to know the owner and her children. The daughter is now studying to be a nurse so I don't know who will run it when the owner retires
To be fair, I'm not an avid Chinese food eater, matter of fact, I probably only eat it a few times per year, if that. However, I do keep my ear to the street and I'm very aware of all the "must have" chinese food spots and Old St Louis Chop Suey is one of those places. I don't live far from here, but there are closer places, however, I'm willing to drive the extra few miles to get their Suey. I typically have egg rolls, crab rangoon and chicken fried rice. Haven't been let down in all the years I've gotten food from here and happy to say that they are still one of the best.
So I only get their crab rangoon here. The place is always clean and service is fast and friendly. I must say I love that the condiments sit up front on the counter and they never try to skimp on how many/few soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce packets you take.
